F.A.Q.

BEFORE YOU BOOK — FAQ

Do you shoot on weekends?

I don’t. I photograph sessions on weekdays only so I can be present for my own family and my kids’ sports. Weekday sessions include outdoor sunset sessions and studio morning sessions.

Where are sessions held?

Weekday morning sessions take place in my natural-light studio in Kansas City. It’s intentionally minimal, warm, and designed to photograph beautifully without distractions. Outdoor sunset sessions take place in the lee’s summit/blue springs area. I choose outdoor locations based on my lighting preference, experience and knowledge.

What is required to book?

A $150 non refundable, non transferable retainer is due at booking, per session, along with a signed contract.

What type of photography do you specialize in?

I specialize in newborn, motherhood, and family portraits with a timeless, emotive, and elevated feel. My focus is connection, always.

Do you provide outfits?

Yes. Access to my client closet is included with your session. I have minimal boys items and I don’t provide men’s outfits, but I’ll help you pick and style everything as little or as much as possible.

Is hair and makeup included?

No. Professional hair and makeup is not included in your session, but is highly recommended. I have a few artists that I love working with and refer to on a regular basis.

How long is a session?

This varies by package choice/session type.

How many images will we receive?

This also depends on your package/session type, but a full gallery is included in *most* packages.

What is your editing style?

My editing is true-to-life, warm, and timeless. I focus on natural skin tones, soft contrast, and images that will still feel beautiful decades from now.

Do you retouch images?

I offer gentle, natural retouching while keeping skin texture and authenticity intact. I don’t over-smooth or alter how you truly look.

What if my kids don’t cooperate?

That’s normal — and expected. I guide gently, follow their lead, and never force moments. Some of the best images come from the in-between moments. Sessions will not be redone because of this though.

What if my newborn is fussy?

Fussiness is part of newborn life. Sessions are baby-led, flexible, and calm. There is no rush, ever.

How far in advance should I book?

Newborn sessions should be booked during pregnancy. My calendar fills quickly, as I only take so many newborns a month to insure availability for everyone booked.

Do you offer mini sessions?

Yes, but only a few times per year(i.e. Christmas, mainly-not fall) and they are very limited. Full sessions offer the most relaxed and customized experience.

What makes you different from other photographers?

I value experience just as much as the final images. From styling to pacing to emotional connection, my goal is for you to feel seen, confident, and cared for — not rushed through a checklist.
